Head coach Kanyon Anderson said they try training for the championship all year long. “The game will be a little bit more specific in the final four. These teams have more dangerous players.” Anderson said. Women’s Captain Kamryn Barney said, “They are keeping up the intensity in practice so that way, when it comes time for the real deal they are more prepared.”
“With the win, the Pirates conclude their fourth season without ever losing at Sigmar Field,” said Rick Ross, athletic director, in his press release. “The Pirates defeated Treasure Valley 1-0 in a Quarterfinal Playoff thriller before a big crowd at Sigmar Field Sunday to punch their ticket to the NWAC Finals.” Freshmen Lexi Krieger took the free kick and put the ball in the near corner, with the assist from teammate Kai Mahuka, who is also a freshmen, making it a goal in the 73rd minute.
The PC men’s soccer team lost to North Idaho, 2-0, ending their bid for a third repeat championship. Both teams have made it to NWAC four times in a row and both teams are two time defending champs. The men’s team suffered injuries. Caio Maciel suffered from a groin injury. The goal keeper broke his finger. Despite all the injuries the team stayed united all the way up to the quarter finals. Keevan Webb said they had a good season and they were very tight.
