The student government is holding a special election from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 11 at the PUB in Port Angeles as well as at the Peninsula College front desk in Forks and Port Townsend.

The vote will decide whether to implement a heftier quarterly “Transportation Fee” of $16 that that would include a beefed-up bus pass fee which would extend coverage to the Jefferson Transit System for an extra $1 compared to the previous year, and an additional $8 to keep up with “parking support” costs.

In the case of a majority “no” vote, the bus pass would stay at $7, forgoing the Jefferson Transit extension, while those who wish to get a parking tag would be required to pay a hefty $25 per quarter on top of that.

Even with the new measure, fees would be less overall considering the $2.90 per-credit PUB renovations fee is about to expire.
