Celebrating his 20th birthday in style, Sophomore guard Deonte Dixon snatched an alley-oop bounce pass, leaped over Chris Reis and threw down a vicious one-handed, bleacher-shaking dunk to claim the 2015 Pirate Tip Off Slam Dunk Contest.

“It feels great. I’ve practiced it many times, so I’ve done it multiple times in practice. I was just adding on to the good accomplishments,” Dixon said.

Sophomore guard Cherish Moss came back from a 3-shot deficit and drained a buzzer-beating 3 narrowly defeat Zhara Laster 13-12 in the women’s 3-point Contest.

“It feels really good. I was really happy with my rebounders,” Moss said.

Sophomore guard Ryley Callaghan knocked down 16 3-pointers, including 7 in a row, to take down Alex Baham and secure back-to-back Pirate Tip-Off 3-point titles.

“It’s a great feeling. This year, it was especially nice to win because the competition was good. Chris Reis, Jalon McCullough and Alex Baham can shoot really well,” Callaghan said.
