Husky hopefuls visit Seattle; tour U.W. campus

The annual, and very frantic, university application period is nearing as December 15 gets closer with each passing day.

Many students don’t even have this date on their radar.

However, for some, this search began eight months early.

On April 25, Peninsula College transported a bus full of students directly to the University of Washington’s Seattle campus, they were able to explore a variety of classes, a diverse array of clubs and observe and experience campus life and culture firsthand.

The bus left at 7:30 a.m. and everyone attending spent the entire day at the university.

All students had the freedom to roam where they pleased throughout the day, whether that time be spent in class or walking with tour guides or visiting friends and familial residents.

During the trip, most of the campus was awash in sunlight and refreshing spring breezes.

The cherry trees, though no longer in bloom, were lofty, green and beautiful.

They occasionally showered students and visitors with seeds and pollen and crinkly leaves that skateboarders swerved to avoid running over.

By the end of the trip, at 6:30 p.m. when the bus arrived back at Peninsula College, students had explored the stunning University of Washington campus to their filling and logged a profitable experience in their memory.

Peninsula College student Jensen Heike said, “This was a worthwhile experience. I got a good feel for the campus and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
