With elections coming up this November, The Buccaneer asked a question about the role of Peninsula College to 2 state representative candidates of district 24.

Steve Tharinger, Democratic state representative said, “Peninsula College has a unique role in matching the education of students with needs of business and industry on the Peninsula. If you think about composites, marine trades, health care and natural resources; the college can help student prepare for jobs in these fields. Plus the college offers classes in language, the arts, math and science that add to a good basic education which is so important in our society today.”

And his opposition, John D. Alger responded, “Easy answer!  Peninsula College provides a gateway to a better economic future for Olympic Peninsula residents and those who come from afar to study here.  PC works in close conjunction with area business to provide potential employees with needed skills, and also is a lower-cost way to gain an eventual four-year degree.”
