The 26th annual Scott Firefighter stairclimb in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is quickly approaching on March 12.

In preperation, Port Angeles Fire Department (PAFD) hosted a series of four stair climbs located at the downtown fountain in Port Angeles, with the last one held Feb. 6.

However, due to inclement weather the event has been rescheduled for Feb. 20 at 4 p.m.

Students, staff and community members are welcome to participate in the event.

The stairclimb features a marathon-esque of 12 flights of stairs to run, equal to the 69 floors and 1,356 steps climbed at the Columbia Center where the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is held.

The Columbia Center is the second tallest building west of the Mississippi river.

“This was started to showcase the kind of grit and determination and sacrifice it takes to beat cancer, those are also the same attributes it takes to have a winning team or group. This year I am opening it up to our entire PC family,” said Tim Tucker, Peninsula College Director of Soccer Operations.
