Leading the Pirates in scoring, assists and steals, Darrion Daniels is having a spectacular season. Daniels is averaging 16.9 points, five rebounds and 4.15 assists per game.

Currently, Daniels is ranked number 12 in the North West Athletic Conference in assists with a total of 83.

Daniels was awarded with the Under Armour Player of the Week on Jan. 17 for his performances in wins versus Shoreline and Everett.

Daniels scored 31 points on Shoreline and added two steals and seven assists. In the win over Everett, Daniels scored 19 and put up another seven assists.

“It felt really good,” Daniels said about winning the Under Armour award.

Daniels moved to Port Angeles from Las Vegas to play basketball for the Pirates.

“Sometimes it’s hard (being away from home), but I try not to think about that. I plan on playing at a four year college, and wherever I get a scholarship to keep playing, I’ll go.”

Daniels is studying to get his A.A. degree. If basketball doesn’t work out, he said that he would like to be a firefighter.
