‘If you weren’t eccentric when you got here, then you are bound to be by the time you leave’

By Stephanie LaCour

Misfit Manifesto premiered June 3 and 4 in Peninsula College’s Little Theatre.

This year’s Find Your Voice Play Festival took the stage by storm when a man revealed what would appear to be about seven rings pierced through a body part; something that would cause most men to shrink in fear.

“Misfit Manifesto is a phrase intended to capture the non-conformist, eccentric philosophy of this year’s selection of plays,”  Lara Starcevich

The theme, “Eccentrics of the Northwest,” has been planned for over a year by Starcevich along with her cohort of misfit writers – Richard Stevens, Jonathan Mitchell, Joe Crollard, Fred Robinson, and Steve Boutelle.

They have created an outstanding work of talent and comedy that we all can relate to. This year’s actors and actresses were a mash-up of amazing talent and hilarious stage presence, the theatre was alive with the audience laughing at almost every scene, and an energy that permeated the atmosphere of the room.

The talented playwrights include Donna Latham, Dr. Lara Starcevich, Richard Stevens, Jonathan Mitchell, Kate Henninger, Steve Berry, and Suzanna Bailie. Directors included Megan Mundy, Richard Stevens, Dynara Rystrom, Kate Henninger, Sarah Tucker, Steve Berry, Stephanie Gooch, and Ingrid Voorheis.

With captivating scenes that were “politically incorrect,” the Find Your Voice Play Festival was a huge success.

The play is going to be performed again on June 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre, with general admission at $12; PC students with an ID for free; a non-PC student with an ID for $5; and seniors for $10.
