On the Public Courts, Allie Greene

by Emma Bankson

Commonly known as the end of the world for its frontier view of the Pacific Ocean and teeming beauty of its wildlife, Neah Bay, Washington, is the home of the Makah Indian reservation. Growing up in an area with few activities for children, Makah Tribal member Allie Greene found her way to the Community gym where basketball became an important way to find friends and build community.
Today, Green plays for the Peninsula College Women Pirates Basketball team, just as her parents, Linday and Daniel, who played sports during their time in college. One of Greene’s core memories includes winning multiple championship games, including one in high school.
Greene dedicates most of her free time to practicing, finding it easier to show up and practice as well as cheering on her teammates, helping them to push as a team The team has good energy and an encouraging attitude, Coach Allison Crumb said.
