More than 20 activists turned out for the Washington State Supreme Court Justices visit.

Washington State Supreme Court Justices came to Port Townsend on their tour around the state.  While they were in town May 13 and 14, they listened to three separate cases and held a public question and answer forum in the Port Townsend City Hall.

According to Washington Courts Press Release: the first case was State of Washington versus Frank A. Wallmuller, and the unconstitutional vagueness in a community custody condition, prohibiting the convicted defendant from frequenting where children congregate was challenged.

The second case was the one with Freedom Foundation versus Service Employees International Union Local. The question of ‘whether email messages kept on a public university’s system consisting of exchanges among university employees and a private labor union concerning unionization efforts are public records subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act.’

The third case was with City of Seattle and Mark Elster and Sarah Pynchon. It fell into the debate of whether the city of Seattle’s campaign voucher program violates First Amendment principles.

On a related note, Washington State Eterny General Bob Ferguson spoke on the main campus April 30.
