Attack Of The Comedian

By Halle Nottage

Comedian Corey Rodrigues’ bold and considerably dirty humor had the whole audience in the Maier Performance Hall laughing loudly as well as slightly cringing as he took them on a humorous journey about stories from his life. His comedic style was very loud and in your face, and even went to the extent of engaging certain people in the audience and making them part of the joke. I was “fortunate” enough to be made into one of those jokes. I had shown up with the original intent of taking pictures for this very article, and quickly realized that there was no memory card in the camera, leaving me to sit in the front row with a noticeable camera. He quickly noticed that I wasn’t taking pictures, and pointed it out to the whole audience, and even carried out the joke throughout the rest of the show, leaving me a little exasperated as I had no time to come up with a come back, so I had to just accept my fate as an article of humor. However, my suffering ended when he opened up the floor for a time of Q&A, which was quite interesting as well as informative and helpful for college students. Rodrigues discussed his past careers as well as opportunities he had taken as a college student, including the Disney College Program from which he said he received excellent training and skills that benefited him greatly once he graduated. All in all, the show was a success and people left Maier Performance Hall grinning from ear to ear, as well as laughing and joking with one another.
