Cultural enrichment on the rise

Five years ago, students and the Peninsula College International Office put together an event called PUB Global. Peninsula College has approximately 130 international students and many domestic students from a variety of backgrounds. This event is to celebrate the many different cultures here at Peninsula College.

“We hope that students learn more about and experience the diversity of cultures here. We hope they interact and engage with other students and perhaps make some new friends and connections,” international student advisor, Valerie Conroy, said when speaking of what she hopes students get out of this event.

PUB Global provides an opportunity for cultural enrichment, a common theme at Peninsula College. The event continues to grow and has moved from being held in room J47 to the lower PUB and now the entire PUB. Students who have participated has had the chance to celebrate their country of birth, heritage and/or interest.

Students attending the event should expect to see several tables representing the cultures, food, art, crafts, etc., of the students we have at Peninsula College. All PC students and faculty are invited to attend PUB Global being held on February 26, 2016 in the PUB from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
