Through pictures and narrative, Glynda Schaad, Peninsula College English Faculty, chronicles the WWII experiences in 1944-1945 of her father Oscar Peterson in a Studium Generale Presentation on Oct. 12.
92 years old Oscar Peterson, also known by friends and family as “Pete”, fought in both the Battle for Brest and The Battle of the Bulge, France. When the war ended, Oscar was stationed in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.
In October, Peterson was notified that the French President had signed papers awarding him The Legion d’Honneur for US veterans; an award created to honor extraordinary contributions to the country.
The Legion of Honor is France’s highest distinction.
