On the evening of Oct. 28, a Washington State Park trooper locked the gate that led to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park due to snow. Few employees are left to tend to the Park as a result of the government shutdown which has been an ongoing stalemate since October,1,2025. Though the park remains open to the public, campsites, visitor centers and restrooms remain closed.
