Athletic awards received by students and staff

Peninsula College honored student athletes Akari Hoshino, Yamilei Rodriguez, Jose Soto, Bailie Zuber, Alex Baham and Alicia Dugan, at this year’s annual student awardds presentation.

Each year the Athletic Department choses two athletes from each team who show exemplary actions in academics, leadership, athleticism, and citizenship.

For soccer, The Wally Sigmar award was presented to Bailie Zuber from Carson City and Jose Soto coming from Ontario, California Both are sophomores.

For basketball, The Art Fiero award was presented to Alex Baham who comes from Wasilla, Alaska, and to Alicia Dugan who is from Renton. Both are sophomores.

The William and Annie McMullen award was given to freshman Akari Hoshino, a soccer player from Tokyo, Japan, and freshman Yamilei Rodriguez, a basketball player from Las Vegas. This award is given annually to returning female athletes who present exemplary actions in dedication, accomplishment, ambassadorship and inspiration. The award is presented by Pirate Athletics and the McMullen family.

Head Women’s Soccer Coach Kanyon Anderson received the North West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award.

Former PC athlete Sydney Warren received the NWAC Baden Soccer Player Of the Year award for her 2017 season with the Pirates. She is a sophomore from Maple Valley.
