Mystery shrouded in shrubs; Truck lands in trouble

A Dodge Ram was airborne for several seconds and was found lodged in shrubbery on the Peninsula College campus the morning of April 6.

Officer Jeffrey Thaxton responded to the reported crime scene and upon arrival, observed a green Dodge Ram pickup truck that had been abandoned after causing an estimated $500 in damage.

According to the police report, tire tracks in the parking lot suggest that the driver of the truck was doing donuts, and a long burn out mark on the pavement led up to where the truck had jumped the curb, tore apart the shrubs and then became disabled.

At least ten shrubs and parts of lawn on campus were destroyed. The police report also stated that a can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade next to the truck and shrubs. The passenger side door was unlocked and after a search of the truck, the insurance information was located.

The truck was registered to John Ball. The truck may have been in series of hit and run accidents.

On Lauridsen Blvd and 13th street, a

guard rail and sign post were damaged. Another police report stated red Dodge Neon was hit in the quarter panel, and the truck found at Peninsula College had red paint transfer from a collision on the left rear bumper. Ball stated in the police report that his truck was stolen. No charges were filed, however, the truck is being held as evidence.
