Breaking records, Pirates advance to the playoffs

Kept on the edge of their seats the Pirate fans sat through nail biting games over the past two weeks.

Cameron Burton has been a key member of the team, his 72 assists this season have rescued the team many times. Burton’s 3 point shot at the last game against Whatcom College gave the men the advantage they needed.

The men despite their loss are fighting hard with an amazing win over Whatcom College. They are currently in second place the North Division and will play against Clackamas in the first round of the NWAC tournament at Everett Community College.

This is the Pirates second year in the row going to the NWAC tournament, according to Heach Coach Mitch Freeman “We are in the position we want to be in.”

With the basketball season coming to an end the Pirate men took another hit losing Elijah Williams who was kicked off the team, with no comment from Williams, team members or coaches.

The pirate ladies losing streak is in the distant past, winning all their revenge games against Skagit Valley, Edmonds and Whatcom.

Qualifying for North Division in fourth place and will play Umpqua in the first round of the tournament. The women were informed on the loss of Olympic College’s game against Bellevue canceling their game against Olympic as the qualifying game for the tournament.

The men’s tournament begins on March 10 and the ladies begin on March 8.
