Join the Artists of Tidepools New Year 2023

Now Accepting Submissions for Tidepools Magazine’s 59th Annual Contest

PORT ANGELES, WA. – Editors at Tidepools magazine are accepting submissions for Peninsula College’s annual literary arts magazine.

Residents of all ages living in Clallam and Jefferson counties are invited to enter their original artwork, photography, poetry, short stories, and music for an opportunity to win cash prizes and be published.

We have up to $950 to award this year. First place in each of the six youth categories will win $25, while first place in three PC student and five adult categories will win $100. All contest winners are guaranteed publication in the 2023 issue of Tidepools and an invitation to the launch party in early June.

To make cash awards possible, entrants are asked to pay a nominal fee depending on which contest category they’re eligible to enter. Youth entries are $5, adult entries are $7.50, and because Tidepools is run by Peninsula College students, those currently enrolled at PC can enter the contest for free. At Tidepools, we believe access to the arts is essential. To eliminate financial barriers, anyone is welcome to enter the non-contest categories for free to be considered for publication, but non-contest entries are not eligible for cash prizes.

Tidepools magazine boasts nearly 60 years of highlighting local artists across the Peninsula. The magazine has evolved over the years dabbling in print and digital magazines, in-person and livestreamed readings, and even a short film. With the continued support from the Clallam and Jefferson County arts communities, we hope to be around for at least 60 more!

If you or someone you know is an emerging or experienced artist who might like to see their work published, mail submissions or enter online before the submission deadline: Sunday, January 15, 2023. Winners will be announced Friday, March 10.

Find contest guidelines and enter your work online at www.tidepoolsmagazine.com.

Please direct questions about the publication or contest to Deirdre Frank, Tidepools faculty advisor at dfrank@pencol.edu or (360) 417-6489.
