“I’m angry,” Bill Buchan replied when asked why he was protesting against the current Trump administration and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday January 20. “I don’t want ICE to intimidate workers and innocent people with no criminal backgrounds. I want to do something about it. So I’m trying to help in the best way I can.” Buchan, an 88 year old retired US Air Force Colonel and Vietnam War Veteran from Sequim, WA, wore his military uniform as he staged his peaceful protest at the junction between Front and First Streets in Port Angeles, WA on Tuesday. He said he has worn his uniform before while participating in the No Kings protests against political doctrines of the current president. “I’m infuriated by the lack of emotional and social intelligence shown by the current administration,” Amy Heath of Port Angeles explained as she joined Bill Buchan and millions of Americans around the country in walking out of their workplaces, offices, and homes at around 2 PM on Jan. 20, 2026 – exactly one year since Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term as US President. She was also demonstrating against the recent actions of ICE that resulted in the death of Renee Good 13 days prior. Heath said that she had relatives in Minnesota, where the killing took place, and that there was increasing ICE presence around where they lived – a presence that would lead to the killing of Alex Pretti by ICE agents on January 24th.
