Luke Robins, President of Peninsula College since 2012, will retire after the upcoming academic year. He wrote a letter announcing this intention to his colleagues at the college.

“My decision to retire next June comes after much reflection and deliberation–I continue to enjoy my work with you, and I believe the work we do changes lives.  We can point to many successes as a college community, and we’ve also weathered some real challenges, especially in the past 15 months. That said, I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, opportunities to travel, including checking some “must do” fly fishing destinations off my list, and exploring new professional opportunities.

Announcing my intentions at this time allows the Board of Trustees the time they need to plan and execute a robust search process to identify PC’s next president.  You will have opportunities to participate in this process, and I encourage you to take advantage of them.

We have both challenges and opportunities in our future this coming year.  Foremost among those is transitioning from largely remote operations to safely serving our students and our community on campus again.  In doing so, I trust we can work together to rebuild our enrollment; explore fresh opportunities to serve students; and continue our work around Guided Pathways, diversity, equity and inclusion, and student success.

There will be ample opportunities for me to say farewell and reflect more fully in the coming year. For now, thanks–once again–for your truly heroic work over the past 15 months.  Now, let’s all turn our thoughts to celebrating commencement next weekend, and to welcoming more students back to campus over the summer and into the fall quarter. “
